Time for How to DYOR: Crypto Exchanges! In our previous articles, I spoke about Venture Capitalists and Crypto Research firms and the extensive research and analysis they have on offer. In this article, I’ll cover popular crypto exchanges and the educational material they offer for millions of users.
My tip for effective research is to stay organized. This can vary from user to user but at the very least, have a google document or notepad ready when conducting research. Find a promising-looking source? Take note of it somewhere and write some key points you found interesting. Once you’ve got a decent selection, split it up with subheadings or questions that the sources help you to answer. You’ll get the most value out of this when writing your research into a cohesive report. You’ll practically have it written for you with readily available structure, references, and key points you’d like to highlight.
Binance Academy
Binance Academy is an excellent source of crypto educational content for many budding Binance users. Binance Academy currently offers over 350 articles on a wide range of topics. The platform provides translations of a respectable chunk of these articles in over 27 languages.
Binance gets points for being the platform I’ve found that offers translations for the broadest range of readers. It includes material for native Suomi (Finnish), Eesti (Estonian), and Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian) speakers, just to name some of the most obscure options. Technical documentation can be challenging to interpret, so any project helping to bridge that gap is a plus in my book.
The Articles page has a very intuitive filtering system for users to refine their search. Researchers can filter by topic, difficulty, and reading duration, allowing users to distill the information. The offered articles are the usual coin/project overviews, sprinkled with some handy and informative information on the Metaverse, NFTs and GameFi. This article, ‘The 10 Most Expensive NFTs ever sold’, was a surprising list for someone not in tune with the NFT marketplace. New content is usually posted every week.
The Academy also offers a range of Quizzes. Only three are up, but the team is committed to bringing more content to those looking for more interactive educational content. This resource is something to be revisited time and time again.
Crypto.Com
Crypto.com, where ‘Fortune favors the brave, is one of the world’s fastest-growing crypto applications. Over 50 million users buy and sell crypto using this platform. The firm has been at the forefront of the public crypto image after purchasing expensive Superbowl advertisement space and renaming the Staple Center to Crypto.com Arena. Crypto.com has an extensive Learn section on its website that offers an extensive range of market research, surveys, and reports for those bold enough to seek it.
If you happen to be a Crypto.com user, you’ll be able to find all the latest product releases, wallet and credit card updates, well as recent coin listings on their Product News page. Their University page is an excellent place for the basics of crypto but is not as fleshed out as some of the other entries in this article. Binance Academy may have them beat in this particular field.
The precious resource that Crypto.com offers is its wide array of exclusive market research and analysis. The firm can leverage its vast userbase and market data to produce quality newsletters and reports. Take, for example, their Crypto Market Sizing Report 2022 forecast, where the research team tracked crypto adoption through multiple exchanges. The team has boldly claimed that global crypto owners will reach 1 billion by the end of 2022, and they’ve got the maths to back it up. How about an extensive academic report on How Cryptocurrency and Financial Markets are connected? Overwhelmed by choice? The Research Roundup newsletter summarizes the month\’s reports into one handy page.
Do you like weekly market updates on DeFi, GameFi, NFTs, and popular L1 and L2? Look no further than their Market Updates page. These reports provide expertly presented, valuable, and timely information with plenty of quality charts and graphs for the data inclined.
Coinbase
Our next entry is Coinbase, the largest cryptocurrency exchange in the United States by trading volume. The company services just under 100 million users with 100+ countries supported and saw 309 billion dollars worth of trades in Q1 in 2022. This giant in the crypto space has extensive resources available for those with the urge to learn.
Firstly, I’ve got to give an honorable mention to their Crypto Basics section. Excellent article structuring, effective presentation, and the use of various media to express ideas put this beginners section at the forefront (in my opinion) of beginner material discussed in this article.
Our American readers will be pleased to know that Coinbase has more educational articles on U.S taxes than all the other entries combined. Here are just some of the tax-related articles Coinbase has to offer
- Understanding Crypto Taxes
- Understanding Capital Gains Tax
- Tax Forms explained: A guide to U.S. tax forms and crypto reports
Of course, Coinbase has an extensive Market Updates page where the platform publishes its news and research. While not as frequent as some of our other entries, they offer industry-leading research. Check out ‘Scaling Ethereum and Crypto for a billion users,’ a guide to the multi-chain future, sidechains, and layer 2 solutions.
Another honorable mention goes to their page ‘Crypto Resources: What to read, watch, and stream in crypto.’. This is probably the most holistic page I’ve found while researching this series. Each section within the article offers a wide variety of resources from reputable sources.
Prefer podcasts but don\’t know sure where to start? Want to learn about Ethereum on Youtube from Vitalik Buterin himself? Or perhaps you want to read the Bitcoin whitepaper that started it all? This page has got you covered.
Gemini
Founded by the Winklevoss twins of Facebook fame, Gemini is our next venture that provides quality educational content. The firm prides itself on its fiduciary relationship to its clients and its adherence to capital reserve requirements, cybersecurity requirements, and banking compliance standards set forth by the New York State Department of Financial Services (NYDFS) and the New York Banking Law. These high standards and their suite of products offer wealth managers and exchange users an appealing platform for trade execution, making Gemini a respected name in the ecosystem.
The Gemini team has put significant effort into its educational content. Cryptopedia is their curated collection of 460+ articles covering a wide range of topics from a deep pool of industry researchers. The website is conveniently divided into various categories for those looking for a more curated resource pool. I’d recommend their ‘Crypto 101’ course for sharing with friends looking to dive into the cryptoverse or their vast array of DeFi protocol overviews, such as their article on ‘Balancer: The Most Versatile Automated Market Maker.’
If you’re more of a video-based learner, the team has a range of Webinars focused on understanding cryptocurrency markets. Very handy if you prefer polished videos discussing the basics of Ethereum, Bitcoin, and the crypto ecosystem as a whole.
